Young Reader: Old Dead Dude, can you help me to understand "The 70s"?
ODD: Sure, kid. Read this-
YR: I changed my mind. I don't want to know.
I wanna go home now.
(Really, kids, it was a pretty groovy time. The Social Pendulum reached the apex of its swing towards Freedom before reversing course for our current arc into Tyranny. But, that led to a lot of strange explorations as people fumbled to find their way beyond the previous limits and get a grasp on that strange new territory)
the works from Weird Trips #1 (1974)
Strangely, none of that reflects my own experience of the '70s. I guess we each experience things in our own way, depending on what age we are at the time (and other factors).
ReplyDeleteIt would be more strange if any of that did reflect your experience in the 70s. Even fresh out of high school and living in southern California, that stuff was still way out there.
ReplyDeleteBut, it does reflect the wild experimentations of the time - the feeling of unfettered exploration in previously restricted zones - just with very odd results.
Although... some of them veggie people might have been living down in the valley.
